Fourth Ephrata Dodgeball Tournament Fall 2007

EphrataMounts.com celebrated the fourth annual Dodgeball Tournament, crowning four champions for the Fall of 2007. Forty-two teams comprising of over 293 players came together to to have fun while raising money for Juvenile Diabetes.

The Tournament designed to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes raised over $18,000 profit, increasing the profit amount for the fourth straight year.

The Champions of each circuit are listed below, but in my mind the real winners are the teams that raised more than the minimum required amount.

Four teams, Interstate Quackers ($4,344.75), The Natural Disasters ($3,230.00), El Toro Locos ($1,083.00) and The Cavemen ($936.00), all raised more then 900 dollars!! Other teams raising over $200 each were, The King Cobras, Balls of Fury, The NFL Legends, The Justice League, The Bawl Chuckers, The Black Bandits, The Dodgers, The Magic Men, The Prestige, and Vic's.

For their efforts, both the Interstate Quackers (Senior Circuit) and the Natural Disasters (Junior Circuit) will be presented a compilation DVD highlighting their tournament play.

Congratulations, and thanks to all that participated, and all that helped.

How it all went down

  • Rookie Circuit
In the Rookie Circuit, from a field of four Elementary schools, the "Cavemen" claimed victory. The "Cavemen" (4-1, 8-3) defeated Balls of Fury in the Finals 2 games to 1. Balls of Fury got to the finals by knocking off the previously unbeaten King Cobras.
  • Junior Circuit
In the Junior Circuit the "Natural Disasters" (8-0, 16-4) were the first of three champions to be crowned without a loss. The Natural Disaster turned back "The Garbage Men" (6-2, 13-6) in the finals 2 games to 1. The Garbage Men's only losses in the tournament were both at the hands of the Natural Disasters, once in pool play and more importantly in the finals. The junior circuit featured 12 teams this year placed into two pools of six teams. The "Super Mario Bros." (6-1, 13-4) and the "Burger Beasts" (5-2, 10-5) also made semi-final appearances.
  • Senior Circuit
The Senior Circuit (aka The Dodgers versus Playground Legends the Final Chapter) grew to 16 teams this year, and teams were placed in four pools of 4 teams each. "The Dodgers" were the only team to finish the tournament unscathed at a perfect 7-0, 14-0. They turned back the "Playground Legends" (6-1, 12-2) in the finals 2 games to 0. This marked the third consectutive year that the Dodgers faced the Playground Legends in the finals. With the victory the Dodgers picked up their second Senior Circuit Championship. The Elites (4-2, 8-6) and The Heat (4-2, 8-5) also made semi-final appearances. The Dodgers finished their Senior Circuit career with an impressive match record of 25-2, and a game record of 53-6.
  • Adult Circuit
The tournament held the third Adult bracket as teams from all across Lancaster County converged in the Ephrata High School gym. A tournament record 10 teams were in action broken evenly into two pools of five. A new king was crowned in the Adult Bracket as Clockwork finished the tournament an impressive 7-0, 14-1, losing only one game in the playoffs to "Team Contres". Clockwork, a spawn of the former Demolition Dodgeball, defeated the Prestige (6-1, 12-3) in the finals 2 games to 0. Pete Sheppard's Blue Streaks (3-3, 8-7) and Keystone Dodgeball (4-2, 8-5) also made semi-final appearances.
